Concepts for a Graphical User Interface for Hypermedia Retrieval

Which concepts are general and speci c enough to support hypermedia retrieval? We present in this paper a graphical user interface that makes explicit the following three key concepts for hypermedia retrieval: content of documents, facts about documents and structure of documents. The underlying model is based on a probabilistic object-oriented logic (POOL) that enables content-based querying, fact-based querying, and the exploitation of the structural nature of hypermedia documents. In this paper, we focus on the graphical user interface which re ects the expressiveness of POOL for querying hypermedia documents. We report on the application of the system using a heterogeneous collection of hypermedia documents.
